Mommy weekend

Last weekend, I was single-momming it with all four kids.

BA played softball in a tournament in the dome at Vermillion. He hadn't played for a few years and was invited to reunite with his old Vermillion team for the weekend. We were fairly concerned he would get hurt, since he's been pretty inactive. I was also worried that he would get going on the Copenhagen and booze again. I'm happy to report, though, that he came out of it sober, tobacco-free, and unscathed. He claims to have played horribly Saturday, but redeemed himself Sunday. His team won the whole tournament!

All of that softballing left me alone with the twits for two days. I had a great time hanging out and playing with them, but was definitely happy to see BA get home by the end of the day.

On Saturday, Sadie, Sophie, and I had to go to the mall in the pouring rain to attend a book-reading of Pinkalicious at Barnes and Noble. It was packed, and everything got soaked, but it was worth it, because Sadie deemed me the best mommy in the world for taking her. There was pink lemonade and pink cupcakes, and Sophie was happy in her stroller.

Another perk to the weekend with no daddy was the meals. Saturday lunch was chocolate chip cookies. Saturday supper was honey biscuits. It was a snackathon all weekend.

We had a good time, and I booked some serious kid time, but I have decided I'd better keep BA around and save my sanity. There's nothing like a little absence to make the heart grow more appreciative!
