On Friday, Noah, Sophie, and I had a great day at home together. Noah helped out with Sophie while I got my shower and some laundry in, and he is becoming quite a good little babysitter! I got caught up on my cuddle time with Sophie, too.
Saturday night, Noah and I decorated a bunny cake together. He was a little put out that I had dyed eggs with Sadie on Thursday without him, so we had to do the cake together instead. It turned out pretty cute, I think.
On Sunday the bunny had come to our house. Noah hunted both his and Sophie's baskets. They made a haul. Sophie's basket had a cute little doll in it that Sophie took an immediate loving to. She acted like it was the best thing she'd ever laid eyes on. We then started our shower/bath marathon (We have to give the water heater time to recycle in between, so it's quite a chore when we all have to bathe at the same time.) and got prissed up a bit. We had a photo shoot of Sophie in her Easter dress, then loaded up some food and headed to Mom's.
We had a feast at Grandma Nan's; ham, corn, potatoes, honey biscuits, slaw, jello, and bunny cake. Plus, deadly good homemade carmel corn and candy in a giant Easter basket Mom had concocted for us. Sophie had a great time tearing into the Grandma toys and pining for Tuffy. She'd love to play with him and get her paws on him, but he does not share the sentiment and growls if she gets too close. Noah got so cozy at Gram's that he nagged to stay there overnight and had to be drug home. He sure likes it out there.
In the afternoon, we went out to the farm to visit Grandpa and Grandma Juelfs. Dad, Tyann, Lana, and Jim were there, too. We had a nice visit and got a generation picture for Sophie. It was good to see them and wish them a Happy Easter.
On Monday Sophie went to Vanessa's so that I could chip away at my to-do list. I only got about half of it done, but I went a hundred miles an hour all day, getting as much done as possible. After I picked Sophie up, she, Noah, and I drove to Correctionville. We dropped in on Gram Mathers for a surprise visit and to nag her into agreeing to take on a quilt job for me. She is going to cut up Sadie and Sophie's receiving blankets and sew them into simple quilts for me, and I am going to pay her to make such a meaningful keepsake for us. I figure we both win, because she has a project and some extra dough, and I get to have the girls' blankets made into a keepsake quilt. I'm sure they'll turn out great. It was nice to see Gram, too. Noah was enthralled with her Silly Putty and didn't want to leave. Sophie also thought her little basket of toys was fascinating. Many of them are toys she had when I was really little.
Finally we picked up Peyton and Sadie, then dropped Noah off at Mom and Jim's. My holiday and weekend were over, and I had not rested at all. We were on the go all four days. But I got a lot done, and I had a great time bonding with family and making memories.
By the way, Sophie has peed on the potty FIVE times now, and pooped once. She's advanced. Now if I could just take away her bottle and paci, get her to SLEEP once in awhile, and teach her to walk. . .
