I bought Sophie some cheezy little plastic Mary Janes (think Croc material) at Wal-Mart for $3 last week. I tried them on her Friday afternoon, knowing full well that she HATES wearing shoes and that she'd tear them off within minutes. Much to my surprise, she LOVED these shoes. Once I took them off of her, she played with them and kept trying to put them back onto her feet, then held them out to me and yelled at me until I put them back on her. I changed her into her footy jammies, and she insisted on having them on over her jammies even. She looked ridiculous, but I was so pleased that she was coming around to the idea of wearing shoes that I just encouraged it. I took her on a shopping spree to Sam's Club in her footy jammies and crazy shoes. I'm sure the other shoppers thought I was nuts for taking my baby out in that get-up.
Sophie's love of these shoes has continued, and she wore them all day on her first birthday and has been wearing them again today. They're bright pink and don't match everything, but I imagine she'll be wearing them every day for awhile now. Did I mention that I hate Crocs? But I still somehow think she's adorable in these little kicks. What say you readers? Yay or nay on the plastic shoe obsession?
Libby is TOTALLY attached to her new Mickey Mouse Crocs I bought her at Disney World last fall. She wears them all the time. I personally LOVE my Crocs, they are so comfortable. I say you should let her wear them as much as she wants since they are super cute.
