Happy 9th Rooster!

Peyton turned nine on Sunday, July 12. I can't believe it. He was such a cute and nice baby, and that was just yesterday, by the way.
On the Saturday night before, he had his friend, Patrick, stay overnight. We went to Chuck E. Cheese, rented movies, and bought up some junk food for them. I think he had a pretty good time, but it was excruciating for me. Five kids and the pressure to entertain a guest is not my idea of fun, but it is the kids' idea of fun, so I break down and tolerate it for birthdays. They were WILD and stayed up way too stinking late.

On Sunday, we had all of the grandparents come over to have the traditional cake and ice cream party. We had lemon cupcakes, chocolate cake, and ice cream sandwiches. Peyton scored some fun Transformer and Bionicle toys (his current faves) as well as some gift cards and cash. Good old Momma got him an MP3 player, which I pre-loaded with his favorite songs. (He loves it and has been listening to it non-stop.) He also got some speakers for it. He got a camera, some baseball cards, Nerf guns, a stuffed lizard, light sabres, a football, and a Star Wars pool toy.

Peyton particularly enjoys the gift cards and cash. He had to take a "back to school" quiz to earn the gift card from Grandma Nan. (She always has something entertaining up her sleeve when it comes to birthday gifts. Last year we had a treasure hunt. . . ) We had to go straight to Wal Mart as soon as the party ended, so that he could waste every bit of it. He bought a Nintendo DS game, another Bionicle, and some Star Wars figurines. He was as happy as a pig in mud.

After his shopping spree, Peyton and Sadie got to go back to Freeman with BA's parents. They stayed with Grandma Kay for two days and had a good time getting away from home for a little adventure. They enjoyed the get-away, and I enjoyed the recovery time after the party. :)

Happy ninth birthday Petyon Rooster!
